About The Writing Room
Paying homage to Elaine's, its original predecessor of 50 years, The Writing Room brings the storied history of celebrity notables to the Upper East Side. Restaurant owners Michael and Susy Glick restored the façade and used raw materials in their redesign to emit a literary and vintage feel like the reclaimed wood floors and leather banquets accented by custom-made pendant lighting in the main dining room. Photographs of famous authors, libraries, and writers line the walls as the restaurant's source of inspiration. The zinc-wrapped bar seats 15 with three high-rise booths in the rear. Step beyond the card catalog installation to the private dining area known to the locals as "The Study" where guests are met with a handpicked library of novels and a scholarly aesthetic with a fireplace to top it off.Just walk in. No reservations required!
