 To the loyal citizens of the Detinus Republic,


Last week, the annual election for Speaker of the House of Lords was held. I have been told that the turnout at the polling stations of Detinus colonies and ships was extremely high. Detinus citizens instructed the colony governors and Starcaptains whom to vote for, showing the true democracy of the Detinus Republic. The colony governors and Starcaptains then voted under this guidance for whom should be Speaker. The result, I am extremely pleased to say, was a landslide vote for myself.
I cannot express how gratified I am to see such vibrant support for the policies which have increased membership and colonies over the last few years. These policies will continue and will ultimately lead to the destruction of the Imperial Dictatorship.
There have been rumours circulating in starports that the Detinus Republic has finally found a system to call home. These rumours I am happy to announce are true and I will announce further developments in the coming weeks.
Links with the Confederacy, the Brotherhood and Confederate Intelligence Agency continue to grow stronger. In addition, trade with non-aligned affiliations is growing which can only profit the Detinus Republic in the future for our ultimate aim - freedom for all sentient beings.
I am proud to serve the Detinus Republic for the following year and hereby appoint the following people to help with our cause:


Lord Vester as Warlord Marshal of the Armada
Commodore Alexander Plekhanov as Colonisation Minister
Lord Marco Ramsey as Magistrate of the Republic.


Minister Miles Teg has decided to resign his position as Interior Minister so he can devote more time to his family and grass roots politics. I am indebted to his help and support over the past years and wish him the best for the future.


Dictatorships and corruption has always failed in the past. Looking back to when the human race was just reaching for the stars, dictatorships were crumbling and in place new democracies were formed. It will not be long before this happens again. Our cause will never be beaten.

 The Detinus Republic has again showed the Imperial scum that it does not tolerate the RIP by capturing one of their hidden IND colonies. All the Imperials can now do is to try and ambush a couple of ships in the Darkfold periphery then flee (staining brown their yellow coloured ships) when the odds are less favourable to 4 IMP ships to 1 Darkfold based ship. If this continues to be the case, then removing the Imperials from Capella will be even easier then first expected.

 The Detinus Republic is again showing the entire universe about DEMOCRACY. After writing a constitution, this has now been envoked with the annual election of Speaker of the House of Lords. Being a democratic affiliation, this is not carried out in secrecy in case of other affiliations, but in the open for all to see. Expect more press releases as the democratic election process occurs.

 I, Lord Abraham I. Crowthorne (aka Nik Kelly), hereby delcare that I have been a member of the Detinus Republic continuously for at least the past year, and candidate my intention to stand as Speaker of the House for 197/198.



Policy of Lord Abraham I. Crowthorne:


Under my leadership, the Detinus Republic has rapidly grown from the poverty and hardship it suffered after withdrawing from the battle with the Imperials a few years ago. The number of members from that time has grown considerably, as has the number of colonies and the size of those colonies. The Detinus Republic now has a moderately sized fleet, ever expanding with the expanding number of citizens joining our cause to rid the peripheries of the parasitic Imperial regime. Work to build New Tate to class 8 has also paid dividends in the form of the superb Nebulon class warship, which the Imperials were fortunate not to fight a couple of weeks ago (running away with their tails between their legs, as ever).
The policy I propose to deliver for 197/198 is similar to the last year. That is the continued growth of our current colonies with the establishment of new colonies in strategic locations to aid our cause. Also, the continued growth of the DTR war fleet with the intention of taking the fight into Imperial territory, rather than allowing the Imperials to try and ambush our ships in the Darkfold periphery.
Finally, and most importantly, is the establishment of systems which the Detinus Republic can call home, and which are solely under the control of the Detinus Republic. This dream is now near to realisation. Long live the Republic.
