38/197 FET COLONY TAKES BEATING

Blowton - In what they called Operation Payback, the CNF diverted parts of their 'Rolling Thunder' fleet into orbit over FET Yokosuka, the same colony that had opened fire on and destroyed the scout ship CNF Ranger 2 a while ago.
The colony governor unwisely decided to maintain his aggressive stance and again opened fire on sight. Although this tactic had been successful against an unarmed scout, it proved disastrous this time as the Confederate warships happily responded in kind and completely destroyed both the military and the naval quarters as well as most other areas of the colony. With no space or ground weapons left and some 13,000 casualties at Yokosuka the FET now accuse the CNF of attacking civilians. The counter-opinion is that a colony which initiates hostilities against a battle fleet is a legitimate combatant and that a cartel of corporations that maintains their own military assets and supports the Imperial Stellar Patrol with those mercenary forces has deliberately sold out their civilian status and accepted the inevitable loss of lives associated with that decision - DPB, Tharbad

NEWS FLASH... NEWS FLASH... NEWS FLASH... NEWS FLASH...

The peaceful merchant traders, the AFT, are once more targeted by the scum RIP on week 40/197.
The unarmed free trader Persian Independence (3630) came out of orbit of Piccadilly, London system to find a little gunboat yacht the so called Serious Callers Only (4558). After some manoeuvring and excellent command by En Darius III (clone-son of the Master Trader), the merchant vessel managed to escape and fulfil its trade mission. Naturally, a garrison of the AFT Rapid Response team have been deployed and we hold our breath in hope that the RIP decide to increase their presence outside our Darkfold HQ. This has been a public information broadcast from the AFT

The Brotherhood hereby officially claims responsibility for the naval assault conducted on the third day of galactic week 40.197. The operation saw 22 Brotherhood warships enter orbit of Kingdom in the Skord system and open fire on the assembled forces of the Kastorian Military Junta. The resulting battle raged for several hours, during which time four Brotherhood starships were destroyed - one of them a Capital ship. Due to the dedication, courage and unparalleled virtue of the Brotherhood crusaders the Kastorian batteries and fighters were finally all silenced or repelled - and an armed Kastorian Ship of the Line was destroyed. The Brotherhood armada then proceeded to bombard the colony from orbit.
The demolition of Jadis was in direct retaliation for the Kastorian atrocity which resulted in the destruction of a Brotherhood starship, and the crippling of another, earlier this year. The Kastorian atrocity, readers will recall, was conducted on a wholly unjustifiable basis - in which Jadis opened fire on starships because they had transgressed an out-of-bounds moon, which the Kastorians had not publicly declared to be out-of-bounds.

The murder of pilgrims cannot and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Where those circumstances arise as a result of a foreign atrocity a higher authority must intervene. Jadis was staffed by apostates and infidels. The unholy stench of the colony permeated the substance of space and time itself - and it is as an act of mercy, as a selfless gesture to the universe at large, that virtuous Brotherhood crews have dispensed justice. It has come to our attention that numerous references were made, following the devastation of FET Yokosuka, to the outrageous killing of "civilians" and "non-combatants". The Brotherhood does not recognise these obfuscating definitions. There were no "civilians" at Jadis. There were no "children" - only deviants - and Godless alien deviants at that. If the True One sees fit to admit aliens into paradise, and truly the ways of the True One are mysterious, then it is conceivable that by dealing to most of the inhabitants of Jadis an almost impossibly agonising death, we have earned them their salvation - for only by experiencing an almost impossibly agonising death might the deviant, and his foul Godless offspring, finally recognise the error of his ways - and repent. It is the nature of the deviant that he should hide in words and definitions, and our noble duty to seek him out and redeem him. The concept of the non-combatant is a lie and a blasphemy.

In light of this, and before the Imperial Bureaucracy manages to identify the reason so much fire fell upon the Civilian quarter of Jadis, it seems only prudent to assert that certain members of the Brotherhood fleet actively targeted the quarter in question - that the target plan included military targets such as hospitals, police stations and schools. We trust this serves admirably as a reminder to our enemies that the Brotherhood cannot be stopped, cannot be tamed - cannot and will not bear Imperial blasphemies and heresy without justice being served. Resistance is futile. You will be redeemed.

To: All interested in the Cluster
From: Patriarch Kyrt Furey, Clan Keeper of Wisdom, Leader of the Clan Council

It is hereby declared that - from 1/198 - jammers and cloaking will be forbidden in Clan territory.
Towards this end - the following is announced:
From 1/198:
1. Jammers are totally forbidden in the Cluster Periphery. This includes colonies and ships, as well as ground parties.
2. The transport of Korondite within the Cluster without permission is forbidden.
3. All ships capable of cloaking, or carrying built-in jammers, are banned from the Cluster.
We in the Clan Council thank you for your support in these matters.

To: Colony Governors in the Cluster
From: The Clan Council

It has come to the attention of the Council that several affiliations have agreed to transfer colonies to new ownership. While the Council has no problem with the transfer of equipment, it would like to take this opportunity to remind Cluster based colony governors that they hold the territory they possess in trust for the Clans, who have generously decided to allow them to exploit it. However, this permission is non-transferable, meaning that a colony transferred to another affiliation needs to make another application for the license to hold and exploit that territory, with all that that entails.
By now, the process for applying for a colony in the Cluster should be well known. It should also be noted that a successful agreement between two affiliations in arranging a colony swap does not guarantee that the Clan Council will give its permission for the new affiliation to establish a colony at that location. However, we do expect that all colony swaps that are allowed are accompanied by the relevant exploration and GPI data, and that outposts associated with the colony are also transferred.
So we have decided. So shall we live.

Public Announcement: BHD colony Redemption, Solo system, Moon Avatar
BHD Redemption is built on a holy site and is run as a place of prayer and refreshment for the followers of the True One. Infidels and non-believers are unwelcome at the colony and holy places as their presence is a source of anger, and therefore a distraction, to the worshippers at the numerous shrines and temples. All non-Brotherhood positions that land at the colony starport will be refused entry to the colony precincts. The starport has no facilities for the use of visitors. As befits a place of prayer and contemplation, no violence will be shown to unwanted visitors. However, a cordon-sanitaire will be thrown around any such position immediately, to avoid any possibility of contact with worshippers and those who minister to them. True believers are welcome to visit the holy places. Please contact the Scroll Master for the appropriate entry visas.

From: T D Broud, Head of Kastorian External Affairs

This statement is being released by the above office to quash any untruths over the attack on KAS Jadis and the follow up by allied forces. On week 40, 23 BHD warships orbited Kingdom in the Skord system and assaulted the above colony. In round two of the combat the Kastorian Guardship, Stellar Ranger, was destroyed after suffering over 30,000 mu's of damage and colony's naval ring and ground ring were destroyed, though the space fighters continued the battle for another round. The colony took nearly 300,000 mu's although only 70,00 or so hit the civilian ring. Casualties were just over 4,000 colonists and 12 hundred ground forces, minimal damage to civilian ring with the loss of about 12 factories, 20 mines and farms, the rest being absorbed by stock piles of goods such as power, mets etc. The colony did take a pounding but is far from destroyed. Extra factories and military equipment are being shipped in and the colony as a production base of just under 3,000 mu's per week and a large ground party protecting the colony from ground assault which it did very well in week 43 when it destroyed an attacking BHD ground party which ignored the offer of safety and leaving the planet. Instead, it chose to die at the hand of the Kastorian defence unit.

What damage did the BHD suffer in this assault?
4 ships destroyed
4 ships with engines cleared out
2 ships with heavy damage to the main section
3 ships which fled from odds of 23 to 1 and the colony was not good enough for them.

In week 41, Kastorian allies responded with 22 ships and set up a blockade of the moon. This was done quickly and the Kastorians would like to thank all who took part as this was done at short notice and with large commitments elsewhere. It is nice to have friends who can be relied upon in times of strife. This force destroyed another 3 BHD warships but sadly was not quick enough to stop the larger part of the BHD fleet as they fled the area straight after the attack leaving those ships crippled the week before without the benefit of the BHD fleets protection. The reader can conclude themselves who 'won'. The KAS colony certainly did not as it lost 4,000 colonists but it did give a good account of itself, and we learned some good lessons in colony defence and that we have friends we can rely on.
The BHD gained nothing. They destroyed one ship and damaged a colony which, if they had stayed a week, could have been totally destroyed. Instead, they chose to run and hide instead of finishing the job and facing the allies that had gathered to help the Kastorians, which would have ensured the destruction of the BHD fleet as the BHD allies were not fool enough to be dragged in to this foolhardy mission, and so the Kastorians thank them for their good sense. No doubt the BHD will come again and when they do they will find a stronger colony and will get high losses for their trouble.

In light of their attack, the Kastorians would like to make public than any BHD warship destroyed will get a bounty of 1000 stellars per hull and any BHD warship captured and which gets out safely will get 500 stellars per hull, and a bonus of 50,00 stellars will be paid to the ships that capture or destroy the BHD ships on the KAS posted list. We have decided to include all BHD warships as these are potential attackers of KAS Jadis, when the colony is removed from the posted list, we will remove the bounties.
Thank you for your attention and 'happy hunting'.

I am pleased to announce that a very limited supply of Kasmer Stargate Keys and teleports are available by negotiation at her colony. Human affiliations of Darkfold periphery will be able to negotiate a pickup in Yank, but IMP permission for every ship intending to use the Kasmer stargate will need to be confirmed before a sale takes place. The governess will not deal with CLN, CNF or RIP without drastic progress in diplomatic relations. Please contact the following address:

Here is a rumour I've heard at a colony which wishes to stay anonymous.
"A RIP captain is planning to produce atomic weaponry for an assault on random Imperial ships and colonies. It is a new form of missile which can be fired from any missile launcher and is made from a new planet found substance. The captain started this rumour to give the IMP some warning."

Sorry to hear that you have been having a sulk about me taking your ship but if you travel around a dangerous system like Arachnid with no weapons, I was wondering why you posted the ship I took but not the ship that started the attack? Anyway I would be happy to return your ship to you, just send me a small amount of money for repairs etc, say 500,000 Stellars please transfer it to Space Assassin (3992).
Thanks for the pickup authorisation for the Cryogenic Unit it will go to a good home.
